Recombinant Protein Production

Scientist in PPE working at a biosafety cabinet in a cleanroom facility during recombinant protein production

ZiP's in-house recombinant protein production yields large quantities of highly functional and stable recombinant proteins. Current production includes reverse transcriptases, DNA polymerases and custom antigens with capability for customer-requested proteins. These proteins are applicable for a range of molecular diagnostic tests, including those used with ZiP Test Systems, and come at a low-cost and with secure supply chain.

Assay Development

ZiP DIagnostics researcher in cleanroom gown and mask operating laboratory equipmen during molecular diagnostic assay development

ZiP has a diverse team of research scientists and in-house bioinformaticians developing novel low-cost molecular diagnostic assay chemistry that can run on ZiP Test Systems. Assays will operate in simple fluidic cartridges with a sensitivity comparable to PCR and a rapid time to result of less than 30 minutes

Lyophilisation

Scientist in full cleanroom PPE loading assay cartridges into a lyophilisation freeze-drying unit at ZiP Diagnostics' manufacturing facility

ZiP has optimised lyophilisation processes to increase stability of assay chemistry and to advance assay and cartridge design. Using state-of-the-art technology, ZiP can freeze-dry whole assay solutions as cakes in tubes, or as spherical beads. Lyophilised material undergoes in-house quality control processes such as determination of functional activity, moisture analysis, structural stability and digital image analysis.

Lateral Flow Array Printing & Cartridge Manufacture

Close-up of a lateral flow test strip cartridge produced by ZiP Diagnostics for point-of-car diagnostic applications

ZiP provides services for manufacture of lateral flow strips (line-based or array-based), full assembly of cartridges, and supply of customised reader instruments. ZiP has a proprietary array production printing capability suitable for printing of nanolitre protein spots or particles on lateral flow membranes or functionalised plastic surfaces. Typical array formats suits strips from 25 spots (in a 5 by 5 compact array format) up to 100 spots.

Infectious Diseases Culturing Service

Laboratory scientist examining a sample under a microscope for in vitro PC2 organism culturing at ZiP Diagnostics

ZiP has a wide range of in vitro cultured PC2 organisms, developed for current in-house diagnostic test optimisation and evaluation. Contact us for species and strain availability.

Point-Of-Care Study Centre

Clinical researcher in PPE conducting a point-of-care diagnostic usability study simulating a community screening or hospital emergency department setting

ZiP has a dedicated point-of-care study centre available for clinical validation and usability studies. This centre enables simulation of community-based diagnostic testing indicative of general practice clinics, community screening and hospital emergency departments.
