In recent years, there have been global outbreaks of infectious diseases such as COVID-19, Mpox, and new strains of Influenza. The risk of new diseases emerging and spreading is always present. When suspected cases of a disease arise, samples must be sent to centralised laboratories for testing. It can take several days to even 1-2 weeks for results to be returned. This leads to critical delays in clinical management, as well as outbreak response and transmission control.

There is an urgent need for deployable point-of-care (POC) testing platforms that can be utilised to quickly identify suspected cases. These POC platforms need to be high-quality, rapid, and feature secure real-time data management that integrates with existing state and national surveillance and response systems.
