Emergency Animal Diseases
Recent years have seen significant global outbreaks of Emergency Animal Diseases (EADs) such as African Swine Fever (ASF), Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD), and Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD). The threat of disease incursion remains ever-present. In the event of suspected cases, samples from farms, feedlots, saleyards, abattoirs, other remote areas would need to be sent to centralised laboratories for testing, which could take several days or even 1-2 weeks. This leads to critical delays in outbreak responses.
There is an urgent need for deployable point-of-care (POC) testing platforms that can be utilised to quickly identify suspected cases. These POC platforms need to be high-quality, rapid, and feature secure real-time data management that integrates with existing state and national surveillance and response systems.

Introducing the
ZiP-P2 Test System for EADs
ZiP Diagnostics have developed tests for EADs: ASF, FMD and LSD. These tests operate on the ZiP-P2 test platform. With its screen-guided workflow and automated results and reporting, the platform is designed for use in POC settings such as farms, sale yards, abattoirs, and customs inspection. This facilitates decentralised diagnosis.

ZiP EAD tests support nasal, oral, and skin sampling and provide PCR-comparable high sensitivity results in just 15-30 minutes (depending on the test). Test storage and test operation can be performed at room temperature, removing the need for a cold chain.
