ZiP Diagnostics was thrilled to be featured on ABC Radio Australia's Pacific Pulse program this week!
ZiP's Scientific Director Jack Richards and PhD Candidate Matthew Paxman discussed our new test in development to diagnose Scabies and co-infections.
Scabies affects more than 200 million people worldwide each year and is highly prevalent in the Pacific regions. The scabies mites cause severe itching and inflammation at infection sites, and can lead to secondary bacterial infections which have the potential to spread and cause septicemia or rheumatic heart disease.
ZiP Diagnostics is developing a rapid point-of-care diagnostic for Scabies, using a test platform that is designed for use in low-resource settings. The test will be able to be deployed in a range of healthcare settings, including remote and regional communities, to enable immediate clinical decisions at the point-of-need.
