Services

ZiP’s innovation and capabilities enable integrated assay, cartridge and instrument solutions for point-of-care testing.

ZiP's in-house GMP protein production yields large quantities of highly functional and stable recombinant proteins. Current production includes reverse transcriptases, DNA polymerases and custom antigens with capability for customer-requested proteins. These proteins are applicable for a range of molecular diagnostic tests, including those used with ZiP Test Systems, and come at a low-cost and with secure supply chain.

GMP Protein Production

ZiP has a diverse team of research scientists and in-house bioinformaticians developing novel low-cost molecular diagnostic assay chemistry that can run on ZiP Test Systems. Assays will operate in simple fluidic cartridges with a sensitivity comparable to PCR and a rapid time to result of less than 30 minutes. Assays in current development include SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) and chlamydia & gonorrhoea with plans to expand into other infectious diseases as well as animal and plant health.

Assay Development

ZiP has optimised lyophilisation processes to increase stability of assay chemistry and to advance assay and cartridge design. Using state-of-the-art technology in ISO7/ISO13485 clean-rooms, ZiP can freeze-dry whole assay solutions as cakes in tubes, or as spherical beads. Lyophilised material then undergoes in-house quality control processes such as determination of funtional activity, moisture analysis, structural stability and digital image analysis.

Lateral Flow Array Printing Service

ZiP has a test assay spotter in development with the intent to prepare test and calibration strips.  Nanolitre spots of proteins or particles are printed onto lateral flow membranes or functionalised plastic surfaces. Current cartridge strips suit applications with up to 50 spots in a typical 5 by 10 compact array format. However, this can be adapted by request.

ZiP has a wide range of in vitro cultured PC2 organisms, developed for current in-house diagnostic test optimisation and evaluation.  Organisms include:
